Friendship bracelet

Text

Techniques needed to finish this piece:

Make a slipknot, use the chain stitch and the single crochet. Turn your work a few times, then bind off, the end.

To let you get used to the "official" crochet abbreviations, here is the pattern as it would be written in shorthand.

So here goes, your first pattern:

ch - chain sc - single crochet sl st - slip stitch

Here we go with this super easy thread bracelet pattern...

1. Chain 55 (64, 73), sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch to end, turn (54, 63, 72 sts).
2. Every row, Ch1, sc 54 (63, 72), ch1, turn.
3. Work 6 rows total, then without turning join in edging color. Ch1, sc all around the edge of your band, working 3sc into each corner, join with sl st to starting ch then finish off, weave in ends.
4. For the bracelet ties - Cut 6 X 6 inch lengths of thread. Group 3 together and hook through center sc along short end. Bring 6 ends of thread together. Separate threads into 3 pairs and braid to about 1 inch from the end. Tie single knot, trim ends. Repeat for other end.

Materials needed:
- Worsted weight cotton yarn
- Size H (5mm) hook

Instructions:
With a 5mm hook, ch 25 and turn
Row 1-24: sc in each st, [25 st], ch 1, turn
Row 25: sc in each st [25 st], ch 1
Sc all around the edge of your work, sl into 1st ch. Bind off, cut yarn and weave in ends.

Pff! Does that that read like a science fiction novel in shorthand?

Don't be confused, the video tutorial will talk you through it all and you will have read, understood and created your first real pattern!
